Safety Superintendent – Dugald River Project, Cloncurry QLD.

With safety at the core of everything we do, we are seeking an experienced Safety (HSE) Superintendent to provide strong leadership and drive continuous improvement across our operations.

The Role

As the Safety Superintendent, you will play a critical leadership role in ensuring Redpath’s health, safety, and environmental standards are not only met but exceeded. Working closely with site leadership, you will influence safety culture, ensure legislative compliance, and support the wellbeing of our workforce.

  • Identify, assess, and implement improvements to safety and training requirements across all project departments.
  • Ensure employee compliance with Redpath’s Management Operating Procedures (MOPs) and site-specific policies.
  • Develop, maintain, and regularly update the Training Needs Analysis (TNA) for the project and organization.
  • Ensure all training records and competency documentation are accurately maintained and filed in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all projects environmental and community obligations and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and participate in Redpath’s site workplace inspection program, including tracking and reporting personnel participation and corrective actions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) training for personnel and work crews.
  • Prepare and facilitate toolbox talks and safety meetings to communicate safety initiatives, hazards, and procedural updates.
  • Support operations teams with site risk management processes, including the development and review of JSAs and risk assessments.
  • Lead and conduct incident investigations in accordance with company procedures, ensuring completion within required timeframes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all notifiable and reportable incidents in line with legislative and company requirements.
  • Provide expert advice to management on Workplace Health and Safety legislation, compliance obligations, and best practices.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in a Safety Superintendent / Senior HSE role within mining construction or heavy industry;
  • Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent;
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;
  • Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and industry best practice
  • Experience delivering risk assessments, JSA/JHA training, and safety systems
  • Proven capability in incident investigation, reporting, and rehabilitation management
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS (or equivalent)
  • ICAM, Lead Auditor, or similar certifications highly regarded
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
